Spiral-wound gaskets comprise a mix of metallic and filler material. Generally, the gasket has a metal (normally carbon-rich or stainless steel) wound outwards in a circular spiral (other shapes are possible) with the filler material (generally flexible graphite) wound in the same manner but starting from the opposing side. This results in alternating layers of filler and metal. The filler material in these gaskets acts as the sealing element, with the metal providing structural support.
These gaskets have proven to be reliable in most applications, and allow lower clamping forces than solid gaskets, albeit with a higher cost

A TC Gasket, short for Tri-Clamp Gasket (also called Tri-Clover Gasket), is a type of sanitary gasket used to seal the connection between pipes, fittings, valves, or other components in a Tri-Clamp fitting system.
🏭 Common UsesThese are widely used in industries where hygiene and cleanliness are critical, such as:
Food and Beverage (e.g., breweries, dairies)
Pharmaceuticals
Biotech
Cosmetics
Chemical processing
A Tri-Clamp connection involves:
Two ferrules (pipe ends with a flared edge),
A TC Gasket placed between them,
A clamp that holds the parts together, compressing the gasket to make a tight, leak-proof seal.
Depending on the application (temperature, chemicals, pressure), gaskets are made from:
Silicone – Flexible, good at high/low temperatures
EPDM – Resistant to chemicals, steam, and cleaning agents
PTFE (Teflon) – High chemical resistance, very durable
Viton – Great for high-temperature and aggressive chemicals
Tri-Clamp fittings (and their gaskets) come in standard sizes:
1/2"
1"
1.5"
2"
3"
4"
And so on...
Each gasket must match the fitting size and type.
