Hydraulic Wear Rings provide the bearing function between the metallic components of the unit during the stroke movement and in static conditions. They prevent metallic contact between pistons and cylinders or rods and glands, where forces act perpendicular to the direction of movement. The wear ring design shows a circular but open preform, and therefore lends itself to easy assembly.

Rubber O Rings are circular sealing elements with circular cross-sections and are mainly used in static applications. The sizes are specified by the inside diameter and the cross-section diameter. Rubber O Rings are manufactured according to metric and imperial international standards such as AS 568B, DIN ISO 3601 and JIS. Custom sizes of almost any dimension are possible, such as miniature O-rings, special O-rings with large dimensions and continuously molded and spliced cord.

Hard rubber molded contoured Back-Up Ring are routinely produced in a 90 durometer Nitrile and Viton. This provides sufficient elasticity to permit stretching over the major diameter of a piston and then snapping back into the gland groove cut into the piston. 90 durometer has sufficient hardness to resist extrusion of the softer elastomeric O-Ring performing the actual sealing function against the high-pressure liquid or gas.

Backup Rings are used in conjunction with O-rings and seals for both static and dynamic sealing applications. They prevent extrusion of the O-ring or seal when it is subjected to high pressure, and/or larger extrusion gaps. The backup ring should be used on the opposite pressure side of the seal. For seals that are exposed to pressure from both sides, two backup rings should be used, one on each side of the O-ring or seal. To provide added extrusion resistance, Backup Rings are applied along with O-ring or seals for both dynamic as well as static sealing application.
